Generative Unravelling, composed of duo audio-visual installations, seeks to reimagine engagement with Miao piling embroidery—an ICH from Southwest China—amid tensions between its stagnation within academic silos and marginalisation by technological innovation. The project explores a mode of cultural engagement parallel to the original exhibition: embodied, multisensory, and experiential. It merges projection, AI-generated imagery, gesture-responsive generative algorithms, and ambient sound to transform tradition into hybrid art environments, inviting audiences' curiosity and reimagination.

Mi Lin is a London-based cross-disciplinary artist and PhD researcher at the Royal College of Art, whose practice-led research reimagines embodied engagement with Miao embroidery, a textile intangible cultural heritage from southwest China.Her work has gained international visibility across press, awards, exhibitions and institutional platforms, including features in People’s Daily Overseas Edition and Aesthetica Magazine, Silver Winner at IDA 2025, Winner at C2A 2025, and presentations at London Craft Week, IEEE ICME AIART Gallery, RCA AI Festival and the Shanghai Art Museum.
