In my family history I found grandma had bound feet(also called lotus feet) . At their younger age foot binding was almost 100% among upper-class Chinese society. It's to tie the feet to an extremely painful form which also limit the mobility. The impact is lifelong. After hundreds of years the trend of beauty is altered. Lotus feet is no more treated as beauty. On the contrary it looks absurd and against natural human growth.
